Fifty drabbles? Sentences? I'm not sure.
I wrote this while listening to Son of a Preacher Man over and over. I took the prompts from the 1sentence community but I'm not following their rules. So there.

I am not sure what to call this other than a mess... that sounds about right.

I do not own the song lyrics. Or the prompts. Everything else is from my sleep deprived mind. I decided not to edit it from when I wrote it to go along with the whole messy theme.

Billy-Ray was a Preacher's son
And when his daddy would visit he'd come along
When they gathered round and started talkin'
That's when Billy would take me walkin'
A-through the backyard we'd go walkin'
Then he'd look into my eyes
Lord knows to my surprise

A Mess

King
He watched her mouth curve into a smirk as she closed her eyes. She thought she was so cool, and she was right. Being with her made him feel like a king

Vision
Through a smoky haze he could see her dancing and he moved his hands in the air as if pushing back a curtain. There was something wrong. All he had wanted to do was watch her, but now he had the urge to lie down.

One
"I just wanna do it one more time," she whispered, and he knew he was going to say yes even before he felt her lips brush against his ear. "Then that's it."

Mad
"Stop shouting!" She pleaded, covering her ears. The world was spinning and he was so angry, she wanted to make him stop but he was out of control. I apologized. "I'm sorry. Sorry. Sorry." She repeated until the word didn't make sense anymore.

The only one who could ever reach me
Was the Son of a Preacher Man

Child
His head fell back and he sighed, she watched him silently and wished they could stop. "You make me wish I was little again." she told him in a whisper, knowing he couldn't hear her. "So I could do things right."

Picture
The smoke smelled horrible, but she just thought of how badly he had burned her as she watched his picture burn in the fire pit.

Soul
"Of course I love you baby, you're my mate. You're beautiful. Why else would I be with you?" He said, counting his money and barely offering her a glance. It was if he was so used to reasurring her with that line. "Go get me a beer, would ya doll?" He made her feel rotten.

The only boy who could ever teach me
Was the Son of a Preacher Man

Cool
"You're a cool cat." He tried to tell her but he was so fucking numb, he wasn't sure he was really there. I'm disappearing. Where did I go?

Drive
I shouldn't be driving. She thought, but when she felt the wind blowing through her hair it was like it was blowing her problems away. All my problems are in my hair.

Yes he was, he was, mmm, yes he was

Hunger
"Let's go eat." She said, standing up suddenly, but he caught her around her waist and made her sit back down. She fell onto his lap with a giggle. "You's a foo'!" She told him in a goofy voice. "C'mon I wanna eat." She told him, shoving his shoulder and he let her go with a grin before following her out of their apartment.

Attention
He knew she was eating all that shit up, she loved it. The way they all looked at her and waited on the edge of their seats practically. I shouldn't be thinking that. He tried to tell himself, but he already did think that of her. He thought she lied all the time, just to get those looks. Those looks of sympathy for having such a horrible childhood.

Being good isn't always easy
No matter how hard I try

Naked
It was the first time she had ever let anyone see her like this, and she was sure if she was sober she would probably mind a whole hell of a lot.

Shadow
"I wanna hold your hand." She said with a giggle and reached for his hand. He was about to give it to her but she disappeared. Blinking, he realized after a while that he had been spacing off at her dancing shadow - the only part of her he could stand to look at anymore. The only part he still recognized.

Now
"I don't want it later. I don't want to wait, Ryan, I - I want it now. Why can't you just give it to me?" She pleaded and Ryan just shook his head. He couldn't give in again. Not now.

Fool
He wasn't watching her. Didn't he know she only danced for him? Who else was there? There was no one but him, and she thought he was a fool even then. For not knowing how lucky he was she loved him.

When he started sweet talkin' to me
He'd come and tell me everything is all right

Need
"I want to take you out somewhere." He told her, but he felt as if he needed to take her out. Just to be with her as long as she would let him.

Hold
She loved it when he held her like this. It was so easy to make believe everything was better. "Don't ever leave me, Ryan." She whispered and felt him kiss the top of her head.

Goodbye
He was about to say goodbye but he heard the door slam, she had already left and he stared at the floor. He felt so ashamed... so humiliated.

Torn
When she heard the sound of fabric ripping her eyes widened and she sat down again abruptly. "What?" he asked, looking a little confused. Not on a first date! She thought, pleading with whatever higher being was listening. Please don't tell me my jeans ripped. Not on the rare day I go commando.

He'd kiss and tell me everything is all right
Can I get away again tonight?

Never
She didn't tell him it was her first time, she just closed her eyes and tried not to fly when she felt his lips brush against hers.

Power
It was when he touched her that she felt like that, it was the best high she had ever known. His hands on her body. She was addicted already.

Safe
Dancing suddenly seemed like a bad idea now that she was on the couch with a bloody nose. Ryan really tried not to giggle and Carrie tried not to join in.

Harm
Carrie was so confused. Her head was spinning and she crawled under the bed, feeling like a scared child again. She was humiliated, how could she ever face him again after that?

Wrong
"You're wrong." He could hear her clearly and tried to turn the radio up just to have another distraction. "I don't do that. I can't believe you would think I'd lie about - you're so - I can't believe you Ryan." Ryan watched her get up but his head felt too heavy for him to stand up.

Last
"You told me that was the last time." He said angrily. She just smiled and shrugged. "I don't see you trying to stop, stud."

The only one who could ever reach me
Was the Son of a Preacher Man

Sudden
The feeling was sudden and surprising, and she was upset at what she had been missing out all these years.

Wall
It was when he acted like that that she felt he was distancing himself from her and she couldn't understand why. "What's with this invisible wall between us, dude?" She asked finally, chewing on her lip nervously.

Fortune
It wasn't like she expected to make a fortune doing this. Just to make enough, that was all she ever needed. Just enough.

Ghost
She was seeing things again, it was her favorite part. As long as she stayed convinced those things around her weren't real - but it was becoming more and more difficult when they became more and more vivid.

The only boy who could ever teach me
Was the Son of a Preacher Man

Book
Ryan opened up the Stash Book, his favorite one. Carrie peered over her shoulder in fascination and tried not to get too excited as she watched him work.

Hide
"Fuck!" Ryan shouted when he saw the lights. What were they gonna do? He looked over at Carrie who was passed out in the passengers seat. We're fucked, we're so fucked! Looking in his rear view mirror one last time, Ryan pushed on the gas and sped away trying not to piss himself as they followed.

Power
He put his hand over hers, guiding her through the process and when he saw that look on her face - the look he was fond of getting - it made him feel powerful. Like he could own the fucking world if he wanted.

Yes he was, he was, lord knows he was

Time
How long had it been? He didn't know anymore, but he had been waiting forever. Ryan knew she wasn't showing up. Again.

Gentle
Ryan liked it when she sang along to his songs, even when she wasn't sure of the words. The sound of her voice was so soothing. It felt like she was singing only to him and he was almost positive she was.

Thousand
How many times? She lost count. After a while they all melted together into one memory and Carrie didn't mind.

How well I remember
The look that was in his eyes

Change
Ryan knew it was happening, he couldn't be imagining that shit up. She was changing on him, before she had made him feel like a fucking king for having her and now she made him feel rotten. Like he had let some spoiled brat move in with him.

Blur
Ryan crawled up on the table, deciding that would be a good place to rest his head. He wasn't sure what had happened over the last few hours, everything was a blur after the cops tried pulling them over.

Wait
She asked him to wait and he shook his head. Not again. "I'm done waiting." He told her, "I've waited for you to grow up for too long."

Stealin' kisses from me on the sly
Takin' time to make time
Tellin' me that he's all mine

Young
I was so sure it was only yesterday we were young. Carrie thought as she looked at herself in the mirror. What happened?

Eye
The officer knew, with only a glance at those eyes. They gave her away and she knew it, but she was helpless as the officer handcuffed her. She had it coming.

Stop
"I can't... No, I haven't tried, but I don't want to.... It's not like you've tried either, so don't even give me that bullshit Ryan."

Learnin' from each others knowing
Lookin' to see how much we've grown

Wash
Ryan watched the water go down the drain by his feet and he wished everything else could wash away that easily.

Motion

"It's the motion of the ocean." She told him, waving her arms in a fluid motion and he laughed. "It's the flower power and it's the... fish makin' a ... wish..." He kept laughing as she fell down into the seat beside him after her attempt at rapping. "What are you even talking about?" He asked and she shrugged. "Hell if I know, I'm drunk as fuck!"

Learn
The officer was giving him a lecture and Ryan could not help but wonder if it was be enough for him to learn anything. More than likely it wouldn't be.

And the only one who could ever reach me
Was the Son of a Preacher Man

God
"Sometimes I pray for you." She told him and ran her hand along his hair. Turning in his sleep, she tried to sleep to but couldn't help but wish he would pray for her too.

Bother
"You're pathetic." She said, shaking her head. "I don't even know why I bothered with you in the first place.

Command
Being bossed around bugged her, especially when it was by someone who refused to believe his word was anything but law. Carrie walked out and ignored her father's orders to come back home. She knew someone else she could stay with. Someone who didn't treat her like shit.

The only boy who could ever teach me
Was the Son of a Preacher Man

Believe
"I can't believe you would think that." She was saying, getting really offended. Ryan was only sorry he had said it out loud. That was supposed to be his little secret. "Sorry." He tried saying but it wasn't working. She was already too upset.

History
"The two of us have a love so strong it could be put in history books." Ryan said with a grin and Carried shook her head even though that made everything spin around. "That was corny Ryan. Verreh verreh corneh."

Yes he was, he was, oh, yes he was
He was the sweet-talking Son of a Preacher Man

Precious
Her lips parted slightly and she swayed her hips to the song. From where he sat on their crummy couch he thought she looked like a million dollars and right then, with a beer in one hand and a slice of pizza in the other, he vowed to give her anything she asked for.

I guessed he was the son of a preacher man
Sweet-lovin Son of a Preacher Man
Ahh, move me
