Not A Waste
Another prompt response from 15 minute fics behind the cut.
"Just give it to me."
"No."
Carrie breathed deeply and tried not to punch him in the arm for how bratty he was being. This is why they were out there together - to get closer and try to actually just talk about things with out resorting to a punch in the arm anymore.
That and they were horrible lost.
"May I borrow it please?" Carrie asked through clenched teeth.
After a moment, Ryan seemed to think it wasn't that big of a deal and handed the flashlight to her.
It caused him to step closer to her and Carrie noticed that he did not step away. Instead of fooling herself by imagining it was because he wanted to be near her out of romantic reasons, she was realistic and figured it was because he was a teensy bit afraid of the dark.
"This therapy camp was a waste of fucking time." Ryan said angrily and Carrie just smirked.
Of course she agreed, but she had a feeling Ryan was saying this simply because they were lost out in the wilderness.
It wasn't even her fault, but then she reminded herself that he had claimed it was.
It was actually all his fault but she thought she would try to be the bigger person by not bringing that up. He wanted to go for a swim. Thought he could remember the way back. Said the water was fine.
Right.
Only they had lost track of time and now were walking in the dark trying to find their way back. Carrie's hair was still dripping wet and it was making her shiver.
The swim had been... nice though. Not only because it helped cool off their out of shape butts, but for a few hours there were no arguments or harsh words.
It reminded her of when they first met, how nice it had been to break the rules with him just so they can share their own secret.
She saw Ryan jump when they heard a howl in the distance and tried not to giggle. As long as they had known each other, she always had to be the fucking brave one.
I don't mind. Carrie thought. Hesitating a moment, she slipped her hand into Ryan's and was relieved when he held it. In fact... I don't really think this was a waste at all.
There was a noise behind them and this time they both jumped. Carrie flashed her light over to where the noise came from quickly and tried to calm herself down.
As long as we make it back in one piece, not a waste of time at all.
